In Memoriam: Zachary "Zach" Scott Dillehay (1985 - 2024)
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Zachary "Zach" Scott Dillehay, a beloved member of the Indianapolis community, who departed from us on February 17, 2024, at the age of 38. Zach, known as Zachary when he found himself in trouble, was born on March 18, 1985, in Indianapolis, IN, to Judy Dillehay.
Zach was a dedicated employee at Irish Air Heating & Cooling, where his hard work and dependability left a lasting mark. Beyond his professional life, Zach was a man of passions and loyalties. Football, especially his beloved Colts, held a special place in his heart. Every Sunday, he faithfully tuned in to support his team, showcasing his unwavering dedication as a true die-hard fan.
Yet, it was in the realm of music where Zach's spirit truly soared. A connoisseur of Heavy Metal, he found solace and inspiration in the thunderous riffs and pounding drums of bands like Slipknot, Lamb of God, Pantera, and many more. His love for music was a testament to his vibrant soul and unyielding spirit.
To Zach, friendship was sacred. His bonds with Eric Gibbs and Adam Simmons were not merely friendships but kinships forged in the crucible of shared experiences and unwavering loyalty. Together, they stood as pillars of support, embodying the true essence of brotherhood.
But perhaps Zach's most defining quality was his profound love for his family. He cherished moments spent at home surrounded by loved ones, prioritizing their company over any other indulgence. Zach's heart was immense, and his love knew no bounds.
Zach is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel, and their children, Noah Thomas, Stormy Thomas, and Summer Thomas. Additionally, he leaves behind his mother-in-law, Carol Young, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom mourn his passing.
Though Zach's journey on this earth has come to an untimely end, his spirit remains eternal in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As we gather to honor his memory, let us find solace in the profound impact he had on each of our lives. Zach will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A service to celebrate Zach's life will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, preceded by visitation starting at 3 PM until the hour of the service. In these moments of grief, may we find comfort in the memories we shared and the legacy Zach leaves behind.
