William "Bob" Layton Sr Obituary

William "Bob" Robert Layton Sr., 80, passed away on September 22, 2024.

Born on June 13, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN, to Clarence W. and Georgia M. Layton, Bob lived a life built on hard work, loyalty, and a deep sense of duty. He served in the Navy, taking pride in his contribution to his country, and carried that pride into his career as a truck driver. Bob spent many years on the road, loving the freedom in the long hauls and always taking pride in his work.

A man of simple pleasures, Bob loved watching Westerns on TV, enjoying the rugged independence and honor they portrayed. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his garden and going fishing—two hobbies that helped him unwind after years on the road. He valued honesty and always spoke his mind, gaining the respect of those around him for his straightforward nature. If someone needed help, Bob was there, no questions asked.

He is survived by his children, Paulette, William Jr., Jaci, and Sean; his sisters Angela C Williams and Linda Layton Davis.  Bob also leaves behind several grandchildren, his longtime best friend Eddie Crosley, his devoted caregiver Michele Cook, and a close friend, Julia Bogle, who all made an impact on his later years.

Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Clarence and Georgia Layton.
