Wess Finley Jr, age 73, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Born on February 6, 1951, in Dingess, West Virginia, to Wess Finley Sr and Ollie Auble, Wess was a hardworking and dedicated family man.
Wess’s life was marked by his strong work ethic and his commitment to providing for the people he loved. Wess found a love in laying flooring with his “buddy” Gary Scott (father in law). Wess was very active and engaged in many activities, nothing could slow him down. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his loving fiancé and in-laws, going to the beach, playing cards, spending time at the zoo, going to various concerts, watching football, and walking his dogs whom he spoiled rotten.
One of Wess’s passions included collecting diecast cars, a hobby that brought him great pleasure. His love of cars extended to racing, trying to catch as many as he could. He also had a special bond with his animals, but particularly his beloved dogs and birds. Wess was particularly proud of teaching one of his birds to steal coffee, a nod to his playful and loving nature.
Wess is survived by his devoted fiancé, Anita Scott, and his children: Laura Anderson, Cherlyn Finley, Star (Dustin) McKinney, Michael (Michelle) McKinney, Cassy (Tony) Finley-Keith, and Patricia Finley. He also leaves behind his siblings Bobby, Wetzel, and Sheryl, his treasured dogs Gizmo and Maci, his birds Fred and Spike, many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wess Finley Sr and Ollie Auble, grandmother Granny bell ,his brother Jimmy, and his beloved dogs Peanut and Pee-wee.
Wess will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his boundless energy, and his infectious enthusiasm for life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
As Wes would say, “It’s Showtime!”
