Virginia Lucille Dougherty, 75, of Indianapolis, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away on March 5, 2025.
Virginia was born in Miami, FL, on November 29, 1949, to Paul and Lucille (Dow) Perez. She worked as a housekeeper for many years, but her true calling was being the backbone of her family. She gave up everything for her kids and grandkids, always putting them first. No matter what, she stood by them, fiercely protective and endlessly proud—even when they weren’t exactly in the right.
She loved fishing and spending time outdoors, finding peace in nature. A talented painter, she often spent time creating art, especially during her time at the nursing home. Above all, Virginia was a woman of deep faith. She loved attending church, listening to gospel music, and reading her Bible.
Virginia is survived by her children, Robert, Michelle, Michael, and Heather (Jesse); 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and many extended family members, friends, and “bonus” grandchildren who loved her like their own.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Paul and Lucille Perez, and her husband, Robert Earl Dougherty.
