Vernon Dewayne Johnson, 69, of Indianapolis, formerly of Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Vernon was born in Kentucky on January 6, 1950 to Vernon and Julie Johnson. From the beginning he was a wild one. He stayed that way up until he met his partner of over 30 years, Linda Pulham Johnson. He was never one to be 'tamed' but he did calm down. Vernon was a character through and through. He always had a good sense of humor, and kept it no matter what obstacle life threw at him. He always kept his chin up. He was handy, and was always willing to help people out, asking for little in return. He was very accepting, and only asked for you to be the same in return. He didn't care what you did or who you were. Vernon was mischievous and loved sweet, and if you weren't careful he would sneak them or con someone into sneaking them to him. He was big on sharing - as in, other people sharing with HIM. He was well-known, loved everyone in his own way, and worried about those he cared about.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson; his children Charles Johnson, Danny Joe Johnson; Mike Alvey; Dustin Johnson, Charity Johnson, and Matthew Johnson; daughters-in-law Kristi and Cassie; siblings Effie Smither, Charles Johnson, and Dimple Johnson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Vernon is preceded in passing by his parents, Vernon and Julie Johnson; a brother; and a sister.
A Memorial Service for Vernon will be 7 PM, Friday, October 4, 2019 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Friends and family are invited to gather from 4 PM until the hour of service.
