Troy D. Shadowens, 36, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 25, 2024. Born on August 27, 1988, to Kimberly Shadowens and Tony Holland, Troy was a tough, loyal friend and family man through and through.
Troy was an extraordinary person, and hard to sum up. For starters, he was a great kid. He could be a little ornery and shy, but his mother had no complaints. Troy and his sister Britnie had a bond like no other. Instead of the usual sibling rivalry, they were each other's greatest allies, always ready to lend support. They were practically inseparable, even getting their first tattoos side by side. Troy would do anything for Britnie—move heaven and earth if he had to.
Troy didn’t mess around when it came to his friends and family. Once you were in his circle, he’d go the distance for you—literally, even if he had to walk. “I can’t” wasn’t in his vocabulary.
He was a streetball regular, loved video games, and would be the first to jump at a chance to catch a Colts game. Raccoon Lake was a favorite hangout, and he never lost his love for pro wrestling; and while he liked the current wrestlers, no one topped the 90s legends.
Over everything his family was his highest priority; and yes that included his Pitbull LB (Lil Bub). He loved spending time with his family and especially all the kids. He took being an uncle and godfather seriously and loved every second, often offering to pick up kids from various activities or taking them to where they needed to go. He was a fighter all the way, whether it was for his loved ones or battling his own illnesses, he never backed down and body slammed every issue that came his way.
He was one of a kind, and he will be sorely missed.
Troy is survived by his mother, Kim Shadowens; his father, Tony Holland; his siblings Britnie Shadowens, Jenny Villaneuva, and Fredrick (Kaila) Layton; nieces and nephews James, Jrake, Eva, Elijeah, Luke, and Freddy Troy; grandparents Rick and Nivon Kostrzewski; aunts Sue Houp, Lou Shadowens, Crystal Golden, Kayla Shadowens, Brandy Ditchley, and Misty May; uncles Chuck Shadowens, Joe Kostrzewski, Carl Holland, Tommy Hunter, and Junior Golden; cousins Wesley (Misty) and their kids Cailyn and Wesley Jr., Nikki, Kay, Carley, Brooke, Nevaeh, Bre, AJ, Morgan, Ori, Steven, Stephanie, Shelby, Alex, Jade, Jojo, Paige, Kaiden, and Kailea; and a whole crowd of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Shadowens; grandmother, Opal Shadowens; and his dog, Lil Bub.
