Tonya Lynn (Cheek) Carter

Tonya Lynn Carter, 49, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

Tonya was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 6, 1972, to James Cheek and Janet (Turner) Linde.  Tonya was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family.  She was a tough woman, but once she decided you were one of hers, she loved fiercely.  Her family was everything to her, and she often called her kids multiple times a day to make sure they were okay and that they locked their doors.  If you didn't answer when she called, she had a few choice ways of letting you know you better get back to her soon to let her know you were safe.  Her phone was the ultimate gadget and she was never without it. Tonya was a rocker to the core and enjoyed hard rock.  Ozzy Osbourne was one of her favorite artists.  She was an animal lover who doted on her pets.  The greatest joy in her life was becoming a grandma, and she spoiled her grandbaby as much as she was able. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a wonderful grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Tonya is survived by her husband, Dave Carter; her children Chasity Cheek and Patience Carter; her granddaughter Adelynn Curry; her bonus daughter Charlotte Wombles; her father James Cheek; her siblings Marcella Todd, Vincent Cheek, Jason Cheek, and Shandy Dearth; her dog Smokey; her cats Carter and Crazy; and many nieces and nephews.

Tonya is preceded in passing by her mother Janet Linde.
