Thomas "Red" Carl Kidwell, a dedicated racing enthusiast and lifelong member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on February 21, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on January 30, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN, to Donald and Imogene (Oliver) Kidwell, Red leaves behind a lifetime filled with hard work, love, passion, and a bottomless glass of his powdered ice tea.
Red spent many years working in housekeeping for Wonderbread, embodying a strong work ethic that he proudly instilled in his son, Joshua. Despite his reputation for being "ornery" and set in his ways, Red was admired for his unwavering dedication and commitment.
A true family man, Red cherished every moment spent with his son, Joshua, engaging in a variety of activities together, from BMX riding to attending NBA games and fishing trips. Their bond was strengthened through shared experiences, including concerts and movie nights. Red's love for music was profound, evidenced by his early membership in the Kiss Army and unwavering devotion to Queen and Freddie Mercury.
Among Red's passions was his fervent love for NASCAR. Race days were celebrated with cookouts, where he would gather with family and friends to savor the thrill of the track. With the arrival of his grandchildren, Red found even greater joy, embracing his role as an actively involved and adoring grandfather. Joshua Jr, Leah, Aubrey, Alex, and Jordan brought immense happiness to his life.
Red will be deeply missed by his son, Joshua, and daughter-in-law, Samantha, along with his grandchildren, siblings Scott, Tammy, and Susie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Kidwell, his parents, and his brother, James.
In honoring Red's memory, let us celebrate his zest for life, his unwavering love for family, and his passionate pursuit of his interests. May the impact of his life continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, forever cherished and dearly missed.
