Teven Joseph May
June 11, 1995- January 7, 2025
Teven Joseph May, the son of Angela May and Fred Goldsberry, was born on June 11, 1995 in Stockton, CA. He moved with his mother back to Indiana as a small child to be closer to family. He grew up surrounded by friends and family that loved him. He unfortunately lost his grandparents and an aunt at a young age and tried to find solace in activities he loved, like baseball, video games, reading, writing, camping and being outdoors. A few years later, At the age of 15, he met Vicki Robertson in school, and they began dating. He graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 2013. And went on to serve in the US Army as a 74D, CBRN Corp. After Basic graduation, he married Vicki in January 2014, and they went on to have 2 sons together, Micah in 2014 and Malachi in 2016.
After a few years in the Army, Teven was honorably discharged and put his Army certifications to good use working with hazardous chemical disposal for Heritage Environmental where he stayed employed for a few years. Around this time, Teven was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. He had many ups and downs, and spent years trying to navigate therapy, medication, and how to live with the disorder.
After Teven and Vicki’s divorce in 2020, Teven found love again, with Kim Parkhurst. They enjoyed hanging out with friends, going to games, hosting parties, the outdoors and many other adventures.
To know Teven, was to love him. His infectious smile, silliness, hearty laughter, and enthusiasm for all subjects made it easy to love him and want to be near him. His dream was to change the world for the better. He wanted to help others who battled mental illness, especially veterans. He had a heart for the homeless and wanted to shed light on the issues they faced. He always strived to bring kindness and change to the world, even when he struggled to see the kindness and bright light in himself.
After years of struggling, Teven unfortunately lost his battle with Bipolar disorder and depression on January 7, 2025. He is survived by his beloved sons, Micah (10) and Malachi (8), who he loved to the moon and back. They were his greatest pride and joy. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Angela May; his stepfather, Pedro Cardenas; his former wife, Vicki Pope; his half-siblings; (Billy Rutherford, Michael Goldsberry, Freddy Goldsberry Jr, Crissie Goldsberry.) his Uncle Shawn May; his Aunt, Christy May, his ex-girlfriend Kim, and many close friends and family.Teven is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Chester May; his maternal grandmother, Patricia May; his maternal aunt, Julie Marshall; his father, Fred Goldsberry; and his paternal grandmother Alberta Denman. Though they are gone, their love and guidance shaped the man he became.
Though his time was tragically cut short, his compassion and desire to uplift others will leave a lasting impact on all who had the honor of knowing him. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support. Rest in peace, Teven. Your fight is over, but your love, laughter, and legacy will live on forever.
