Ted James Arthur, 84, of Fountain Square, passed away on January 20, 2021.
Ted was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 10, 1936 to Merril Arthur and Ester Bogie. He was a proud Fountain Square Native. He was a landscaper and poured concrete for many years. He absolutely loved his job and working outside, especially mowing grass. He had property in Brown County he enjoyed maintaining for just that reason. Ted was a good man, he was very kind and very generous. He was the type of person that if he saw you without shoes he would buy you some. His compassion knew no bounds. Ted liked to dress snazzy, and he always made sure his kids were as well. He was a wonderful provider for them.
Ted was a survivor, he survived everything. He was powerful in his confidence in himself. He had an admirable work ethic and always a smile. He loved joking around. He had a way about him with children, they flocked to them. He adored all kids and 'adopted' as many as he could. When he was on dialysis and his kidneys were shutting down, he heard the bell chiming in the hospital. He asked the nurses what that meant and they explained they did that whenever a baby was born there. After three more rings, his kidneys kicked back on and he never needed dialysis again. He said the closer he was to children the stronger he was, and fully believed they helped the healing process.
Ted is survived by his children Mark, Sherry, Carrie, Theresa, Lisa, Bart, Tedna, and Lora; his sisters Janice, Kathryn, Rita, and Maria; his best friend Greg Fields; and his many many grandchildren.
Ted is preceded in passing by his father Merril Arthur; his mother Ester Bogie; and his brothers Tony and Michael.
A Memorial Service for Ted will be 6 PM, February 6, 2021 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 3 PM until the hour of service.
