Tammy Sue Lemasters, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 22, 2025.
Tammy was born in Marion County, IN on January 6, 1964 to A.C.W. and Katherine Scallion. She worked as a waitress for many years, always giving her all to provide for her family.
Tammy was known for her boundless love. She loved her children above and beyond, always forgiving, always hoping. One of her greatest wishes was for her family to come together and stay together—she just wanted everyone to be united. She loved being a grandmother, somehow finding a way to love her grandbabies even more than her own children. She was a devoted wife, committed to her husband until her very last day.
Tammy loved the water—she was happiest on a lake or by the ocean. Camping and being in nature centered her in a way few things could, and the serenity of water was a soothing balm to her soul.
Above all else, Tammy loved God. She was a true warrior, having endured so much in life, but never once did she lose her faith. Through her unwavering love for the Lord, she was victorious over every hardship. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her son Cory, who took a piece of her heart when he passed, and with her beloved husband Larry—rejoicing together in the kingdom of heaven.
Tammy is survived by her children Larry Lemasters and Evan Lemasters; daughter-in-law Nickie Lemasters; bonus daughter Brittany Humes; grandchildren Genesis, Tristan, and Jordan; her sister Kathy; many nieces and nephews, including Gary, Todd, Ronnie, and Donnie, with whom she was especially close; in-laws Bonnie and John Vaughn, Tony Lemasters, Sheila Lemasters-Belcher, Ruth and Everett Vaughn, Kathy Lemasters, and Jesse; childhood friends William Linville and Gunner Linville; and many other dear friends.
Tammy is preceded in passing by her husband and love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” Lemasters; her parents A.C.W. and Katherine Scallion; her son Cory Lemasters; siblings Connie, Jan, Darla, Mike, Kim, Angie, and Sherry; and in-laws Larry Lemasters and Leslie.
God looked around his garden
And he found an empty place
He then looked down upon his earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills are hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be Thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
