Steven "Steve" Lee Stiegelmeyer, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 9, 2024. Born on November 25, 1960, in Indianapolis to William Stiegelmeyer and Joyce (Marcum) Cannon, Steve's journey was marked by a profound appreciation for family, sports, and service.
Steve's commitment to honoring Veterans and his passion for history shaped his career as the Physical Plant Director at the War Memorial, where he dedicated himself to maintaining a space of reverence and remembrance.
A true sports aficionado, Steve's heart beat strongest for football and basketball, particularly for his hometown heroes, the Colts and the Pacers. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, he was a true diehard fan.
Beyond the stadium lights, Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to his yard with care and precision. But perhaps his greatest joy came from his role as a father and later, a grandpa. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, sharing in their triumphs, teasing them with laughter, and creating unforgettable memories.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife Tonia (Anderson) Stiegelmeyer; his children, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, his sisters, his nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family members and friends. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In passing Steve is reunited with his parents.
