Stephanie Ann Collins-Buntain, a force of nature, passed away on November 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of feistiness, resilience, and love that will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Born on July 21, 1972, in Indianapolis, IN, to Michael and Nancy Collins, Steph lived a life marked by passion, determination, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Steph was more than a woman; she was a warrior, a true ride-or-die spirit who faced life with a fighter's spirit. She held the title of matriarch with pride; she was the go-to person for guidance, a straight-shooter who would tell you exactly what you needed to hear, whether you were ready for it or not. She had a unique way of keeping confidences and making everyone feel like they had a confidante in her. Steph's dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her presence brought strength and unity to those she held dear.
A connoisseur of crime shows and a talented cook, Steph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her artistic talents shone through as she indulged in coloring, drawing, and writing. A maestro in the kitchen, she delighted in preparing meals that were not only delicious but also a testament to her love for those she fed.
As she walked through life, Steph's love expanded with becoming a grandmother. Her heart swelled with pride and excitement when she welcomed a new generation into the fold. The legacy of love she leaves behind will undoubtedly continue through the generations she touched.
Steph is survived by her loving husband, Lanny Buntain, her children who carry her spirit forward: Leeann Collins, Lanny Buntain Jr, Jacqulyn Collins, Jasemine Collins, Tory Collins, and Joseph Buntain. Her granddaughter, Nevaeh Laraway, held a special place in her heart, and her bonus children—Kacie Buntain, Kalia Buntain, Nichole Buntain, and Jeffrey Buntain—were embraced as part of her family.
She is also mourned by her parents, Nancy and Michael Collins, her brother Michael Collins Jr, and numerous relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
A celebration of Steph's remarkable life will take place on December 12, 2023, from 2-4 PM at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services.
You Never Said Goodbye
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
and only God knew why,
A million times I needed you
A million times I cried
if love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In our hearts I hold a place
that only you can fill
It broke my heart to lose you
but you didn't go alone
as part of me went with you
the day God took you home.
