Sherry Lynn (Muse) Harris-Burtzo

Sherry Lynn Harris-Burtzo, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 2, 2025.

Sherry was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 12, 1961 to Billy Muse and Rose McGarr; and the mold was broken when she was made. Fiercely independent, opinionated, and never one to hold back, she had a way of delivering the hard truths—but always from a place of love. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground, especially when it came to the people she cared about.

Beneath that tough exterior was a big heart. Sherry had an incredible capacity for love and easily welcomed others into her life as family. She was a homebody at heart, happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. She enjoyed going to yard sales and playing bingo, always up for a little fun and friendly competition. One of her favorite ways to relax was going tanning while listening to Willie Nelson—it was her time to unwind and clear her mind.

A moment that meant a great deal to her was being baptized in a river alongside her sister Lisa, a memory she held close to her heart. Another experience that left a lasting impression was seeing the ocean for the first time—though she would have preferred to skip the plane ride.

Sherry was taken too soon, but we find peace in knowing she is now in her Lord’s loving embrace.

Sherry is survived by her husband David Burtzo; her children Michelle Muse, Charles “Chuck” Harris, Joshua Harris,daughter-in-law Peggy Nichols, and son-in-law Ryan England; stepdaughter Nichole Burtzo; bonus daughter Lisa Morton; grandchildren Chuckie, Neveah, Haylee, Nehemiah, Alford, and Grayson; great-grandchildren Mila and Octavia; siblings Billy “Dave” Muse and Lisa Lopez and her husband Jacinto; niece Brittany Muse; stepsister Rhonda; sister-in-law Denise Coco; and mother-in-law Charlotte Burtzo.

Sherry is preceded in passing by her father Billy Muse and her mother Rose McGarr.
