Shawn Michael Haney

It is with a heavy heart and a smile on our faces that we remember the one and only Shawn Michael Haney, also known as Bubba, who left this world for a better one on October 9, 2023, at the young age of 31. Born in Indianapolis, IN on January 30, 1992, Shawn brought an abundance of laughter and love into the lives of everyone he encountered.

Shawn's life was a mashup of humor and heart, conducted with an unmatched zest for life. His loving parents, Rose and James Girkey, nurtured him into the charismatic and goofy guy we all came to know and adore. Shawn was a one-of-a-kind soul who had a unique ability to light up any room with his contagious laughter and infectious sense of humor. If you needed a pick-me-up, he was your go-to guy, always willing to go to great lengths just to make you smile.

Shawn cared deeply for those in his life, and his heart was as pure as gold. Even in times of disagreement, his kindness and willingness to help remained unwavering. He was a stranger to no one, effortlessly making friends with his magnetic charm. Shawn was convinced he was Superman, and to us, he truly was our superhero.

Among his many passions, Shawn had an undying love for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat. His enthusiasm for these childhood favorites was a testament to his playful and imaginative spirit. As a father, he shared this creativity with his children, Delilah, Karma, and Sevyn, whom he loved more than words can express. Being a dad was his greatest joy, and his legacy will live on through the creative minds and loving hearts of his children.

Shawn leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and boundless friendships. He will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him and been touched by his warmth and humor. He may have left this world, but his spirit lives on in the countless memories and stories we will share in his honor.

Shawn is survived by his children Delilah, Karma, and Sevyn; parents Rose and James Girkey; biological father Michael Grube; and siblings James, Tiffany, Kimberly, Kristi, Jack, Debra, Michael, Jacob, and Robert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a vast circle of friends who became family.

A celebration of Shawn's life will take place on Saturday, October 21, from 4 PM to 6 PM, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the hour of service. Let us come together to remember the laughter, love, and endless joy that Shawn brought into our lives. Though he may have left us, his spirit continues to shine brightly in our hearts.
