Sean Russell Dillon, M.D., age 42, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 18th, after a car accident on February 14th.
Sean was born December 14, 1982, in Charleston, West Virginia. Sean was the son of Harold Edward Dillon and Lana Rickman Dillon.
Sean graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 2001, then Ball State University in 2006, earning a degree in Biology. He earned his medical degree from Ross University in 2011, specializing in Family Medicine, and trained at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. Since 2018, Dr. Sean Dillon worked at Objective Wellness and Objective Medical in Indianapolis.
Sean deeply cared for his patients, but his children Landon, 18, Carter, 15, and Myah, 13, were his pride and the focus of his deep, abiding love. His favorite way to spend an afternoon was playing sports with them. He loved a corny Dad joke, and was the most compassionate brother anyone could ask for, frequently taking time out of his week to check in with his two brothers.
An avid runner, Sean won conference, sectionals, and was top five in the region in Indiana as a senior in the 3200 m race, which was his favorite, earning him a spot competing at the state level. He also ran track in college, earning a scholarship and competing at the Division 1 level. Sean lived life the same way that he ran, full-throttle, giving 110%, fighting even when the odds seemed impossible. He was a tenacious worker, and fit more into a day than anyone we’d ever seen.
He was a backyard soccer and football champion, lifting partner with his sons, and his daughter was the apple of his eye. He was “Unka” Sean to his nephews, who adored him and followed him around every holiday. He loved speaking Spanish, studied abroad in Segovia, Spain, and loved the art of Diego Vasquez. Exceptionally generous, he never turned down a brother in need of his time or energy. He worked the soundboard at Center Christian Church for years, and loved his Savior Jesus Christ. In a final act of kindness he donated his organs to the Indiana Donor Network.
Remaining to cherish are his children, Landon Dillon, Carter Dillon, and Myah Dillon; his parents, Harold Edward and Lana Dillon; his brothers Justin and Ryan Dillon; nephews Gabriel, Shepherd, and Theodore Dillon; and his partner Mia Morrison.
Visitation will be held February 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, 1420 Prospect Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the same location with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating.
