Sandra "Sandy" Kay (Carpenter) Steenbergen

In loving memory of Sandra "Sandy" Kay Steenbergen, who peacefully departed on January 8, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on December 23, 1963, in Indio, CA, to Sonny and Barbara (Phumprey) Carpenter, Sandy's journey through life was marked by warmth, authenticity, and a genuine connection to those around her.

Sandy's professional path led her from waitressing to a dedicated career as a home healthcare worker. However, her heart always longed to return to the familiar rhythm of serving others in a restaurant setting. Her amiable and charming nature drew people toward her, and Sandy became a beloved figure in her Fountain Square community, a place she proudly called home.

Unpretentious and grounded, Sandy found solace in the simplicity of life, reveling in the beauty of nature alongside her faithful companion, Xena. Her free-spirited soul embraced the outdoors, reflecting a genuine appreciation for the world around her.

Identifying as a Soldier of the Lord, Sandy's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her character. Family held the utmost importance in her life, and she was unanimously regarded as the best person on Earth by those who knew her best. Sandy is survived by her daughter Malea, mother Barbara, grandchildren Makaylie and Makenzie, and great-grandchildren Nilah, Xavion, and Mailia.

Her siblings, Barbara, Debbie, Sonny, and Cindy, along with chosen sisters Soda and Malea Stover, Fiance Kyle, her loyal dog Xena, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and countless friends mourn her passing. Sandy is preceded in death by her son TJ and her father Sonny.

Funeral services to celebrate Sandy's life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will precede the service, starting at 11 AM, with burial to follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
