Sandra “Smiles” Miles
January 27, 1959 – April 28, 2026
Sandra “Smiles” Miles, 67, passed away on April 28, 2026. Born in Hammond, Indiana, Sandra spent much of her life in Indianapolis and also cherished her years living in Lexington, Kentucky.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Wanita Miles.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Manley, Jennifer (Mike) Manley, Trisha Bunkowfst, and Mikey Miles. She was a proud grandmother to Jesse (Victoria) Manley, Alexis Whalen, Alize (Victor) Dozier, Vanessa (Ashton) Cabello, Jacob Tanas, and Dominic Keith. She also leaves behind her special friend, Michael Voltz; her sister, Pamela (Rick) Heyde; her brother, Thomas Miles; along with many beloved nieces, great-nieces, and nephews.
Sandra spent the last 15 years working for T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, where she built lasting friendships and connections. Outside of work, she was an avid bowler who participated in many leagues over the years. She also had a passion for sewing and crafting, often creating heartfelt, handmade items for those she loved.
Known lovingly as “Smiles,” Sandra had a personality that was unforgettable—she was funny, strong, and at times stubborn, but above all, she loved her children and grandchildren deeply.
Sandra was also deaf, and she embraced that part of her identity with strength and pride. She built meaningful connections through the deaf community and communicated love, humor, and resilience in her own unique and powerful way. Her ability to connect with others went far beyond words, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Sandra’s love, strength, and spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
