Russell "Russ" Chappell Obituary

Russsell "Russ" Wayne Chappell, 60, of Indianapolis, departed this world on February 6, 2024, on his sixtieth birthday. Born in Fort Riley, Kansas, on February 6, 1964, Russ was the beloved son of Gerald Chappell and Rosemary (Dennis) Fagg.

Russ dedicated over three decades of his life to truck driving before embracing a well-deserved retirement. His sociable nature and charisma endeared him to many, particularly earning him popularity among the fairer sex. But beyond his profession and social circles, Russ had a profound passion for Native American culture.

Immersing himself in the traditions and ways of indigenous peoples, Russ found solace and inspiration in the teachings and practices of Native American tribes. He eagerly participated in reenactments as a Mountain Man and was a devout attendee of the Rockville Native American Powwows. Russ was captivated by the philosophy of living off the land, mirroring the respect and harmony that indigenous cultures maintained with nature.

Russ's authenticity was unmatched. He lived his life unapologetically, embracing his individuality and freedom with an unwavering spirit. His genuine and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a lasting mark on their hearts.

In addition to his love for Native American culture, Russ cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his father, Gerald Chappell; his mother, Rosemary (David) Fagg; his sisters Cheryl, Ruthie (Kenneth), and Jennifer; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Russ was preceded in death by his girlfriend, Julia.
