Ronnie Lee McKinney, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 1, 1939, Ronnie lived a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He managed car washes for many years before retiring. In retirement, he rarely missed a sporting event and could always be found enthusiastically cheering on his favorite Indiana teams. He especially enjoyed watching Caitlin Clark and LeBron James and had recently discovered a love for soccer, following the sport with great excitement.
While Ronnie was a passionate sports fan, nothing brought him more pride than his family. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and never missed an opportunity to encourage and support those he loved. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Timmy (Darlene) Sherwood, Robin (Onorio) Guzman, Tracy Sherwood, Ronnie (Debbie) Sherwood Jr., and Aaron Leach; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved granddaughter, Micaela Sherwood, whose loving care, compassion, and unwavering devotion brought him comfort and dignity in his final years. Their bond was truly special, and the love they shared was evident to everyone who knew them.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Theresa Campbell and Tianne Sherwood; his parents, Hazel & Henry McKinney; his adoptive mother, Mrs. Sherwood & four of his grandchildren.
Ronnie’s greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so deeply. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on through each of them. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 15, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Service, with visitation from 11am until time of services.
His final resting place will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
