Robert “Rob” Wayne Heaton Sr., 55, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Born on Christmas Eve, 1968, in Indianapolis, Rob was a man who built things, plain and simple. He didn’t just work construction—he lived it. Give him a car frame, and he’d bring it roaring back to life. Hand him a toolbox, and he'd renovate a house from the ground up, all by himself. His skills ran deep, and he never backed down from hard work. If there was something to be done, Rob was the guy who got it done, no shortcuts, no excuses.
Quiet by nature, Rob didn’t waste words, but when he spoke, people listened. He wasn’t into giving empty promises. If Rob told you he’d do something, he meant it, and you could take that to the bank. He didn’t need to talk big—his actions spoke louder than anything he could say.
Despite his tough exterior, Rob was the kind of guy who’d drop everything to help someone out. He’d lend you a hand without asking for anything in return, whether it was fixing up your car or giving you the shirt off his back. He was reliable to a fault, and everyone who knew him respected him for it.
When Rob wasn’t working, he traveled as much as he was able. He loved the freedom of the open highway on his Honda CBR, especially when it led him to places like Tennessee or Key West. Riding wasn’t just a hobby—it was a way to unplug.
Rob as a friend was dependable and kind, offering support and friendship without hesitation. As a father he was exemplary, providing guidance and love with unwavering dedication. As a husband, his devotion was clear in every act of care, and as a son, he remained loyal and committed, always showing deep respect and love to those closest to him.
Rob is survived by his wife, Cherie Cannon; his son, Robert Heaton Jr.; his daughters, Breanna (Justin) and Alexis; and his grandson, Jameson. He also leaves behind his mother, Wanda Heaton; his siblings, Michael, Debbie, Kathy, and Carol; and nieces and nephews Shaw, Cody, Mark, Crystal, and Chris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Heaton, and his brother, David Heaton.
