Penny Lynn Evans-Polson, 62, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 8, 2023.
Penny was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 6, 1960 to Johnnie Virgil Evans Sr and Carolyn Sue Littleton-Evans. Penny loved flowers, so much she built her life around them. She was widely known as the go-to for decorating and her arrangements were the best. Everyone knew who Penny was. Penny was tough, she never let things hold her back, she was called Penny the Pitbull. She was tenacious and talented, her hard work earning her a place on the Men's Golf Team at Vincennes University. Her drive was unbelievable. She went to college for tailoring, and while there sang in the Roaring 20s group. She always spoke her mind, and you could always count on Penny to be herself.
Penny woke up everyday to have a good day. If you look good, you do good, and you feel good is what she always said. She never held back, and that included in her personal relationships. She loved animals, horses while younger and Boston Terriers in later years. She was a great companion and stuck by her people. She worked hard and made sure her kids were well prepared for anything they may face out in the world. Her family was everything, from working in flowers with her sister to being a proud Daddy's Girl, they always played an integral part in her life, and she made sure they knew she loved them. With her passing the world is a little less bright.
Penny is survived by the love of her life Jimmy Nelson; her children Jamie Lynn, Lacy Cockerham, Amber Loy, Nick Polson, Lynsey Cockerham, and Chris Polson; grandchildren Stephen, Cassie, Joy, Nathan, Sophie, Skylynn, Andrew, Macy, Bailey, Junior, and Noah; great-grandchildren Nathan Jr and Nature; her sister Mary Lyn Hadley; and best friend/partner-in-crime Shelly Kelly.
Penny is preceded in passing by her parents Johnnie Sr and Carolyn Evans; her brother Johnnie Evans Jr; and her role model Joyce Summers.
A Celebration of Life for Penny will be 7 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 4 PM until the hour of service.
