Michele Lee Keener, 51, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 27, 2024.
Michele was born on September 5, 1973, in Indianapolis, IN, to Kenneth "Kenny" Whitaker and Cathleen (Stewart) Gullet. Michele’s greatest defining trait was her epic love for her family.
Michele’s greatest joy was spending time with her two granddaughters, Courtlinn Kirkpatrick (8) and Avery Dungan (2). She treasured her time with them and loved them more than anything. Whether she was listening to music, enjoying family time, or sharing her signature laugh—which could light up a room—Michele had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and happy.
She was on an inspiring weight loss journey, proudly shedding over 80 pounds, and was thrilled about her daughter’s upcoming wedding. Michele had already started insisting her daughter find a venue and dress ideas and couldn’t wait for the big day. She also held close in her heart the memory of her grandson, Bentlee, who was stillborn. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now reunited with him.
Every morning, Michele loved sharing coffee and music with her husband, Brian, and spending time with her son, Brandon, watching movies and just spending time together. As the glue of her family, she was protective, loving, and always put her loved ones first.
Michele is survived by her husband, Brian Keener; her son, Brandon Whitaker; her daughter, Courtney Keener, and her fiancé, Richard Dungan; her two granddaughters, Courtlinn and Avery; her niece, Catrina Bruce; and her nephew, Jason Bruce.
She was preceded in passing by her beloved grandson, Bentlee.
Michele will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laugh, and the steadfast foundation she was for her family.
