Melissa "Missy" Kay Lucas, 47, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
Missy was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 25, 1972 to Virgil Downey and Linda Marie (Stewart) Lucas. Missy was tough, not that she had much choice in the matter as the youngest girl with 3 older brothers. They never treated her like a sister, even when she was an adult. As a result she was strong-willed and independent. She was never afraid to speak her mind. She knew how to work on cars, and was the type to try and fix things herself before asking for help. Even if the thing wasn't necessarily broken to begin with, she was positive she could improve it. Even though she was tough, she had a big heart. Missy was the type to help anyone with anything. She was funny, and full of life. Her presence filled the room. She dedicated her life to her family, and the two best days of her life were when her daughter Kieran and later her grandson Levi were born. Levi was the apple of her eye and he could do no wrong, and she wore the badge of 'Crazy Grandma' with pride. It was never a secret how much he was loved and adored.
To know Missy was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
Missy is survived by her daughter Kieran (Joel) Sanchez; her grandson Levi; the love of her life Paul Hammond; her brothers Tony (Kay) and Gary (Holly); her sister-in-law Mary; and several nieces and nephews.
Missy is preceded in passing by her parents Virgil and Linda; and her brother Lee.
