Maureen Adele Schmidt

Maureen Adele Schmidt, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 13, 2023, her timeline coming full circle.

Maureen was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 13, 1960 to Carl W and Mary A (Mabry) Schmidt. Maureen was one of a kind.  She was always herself, and she lived her life her way.  She was an antique collector, loved shopping, and was the thrifting queen.  She enjoyed keeping house and planting her flowers. Maureen was chronically late to everything, sometimes so late she didn't even show up.

Maureen did her genealogy and discovered her family was related to royalty, and she ran with that.  Royal purple and crowns were her thing, and she loved having tea party with her "princesses" (her nieces).  Maureen, or Aunt Reen, was full of love.  She was good-hearted and very active in her nieces and nephews lives.  She was a Near Mom to many of them, and always there when they needed her.  Her family meant the world to her.  She will be missed.  

Maureen is survived by her siblings Sue (John) Ciresi, Greg Schmidt, Michael (Theresa) Schmidt, Elizabeth (Scott) Schmidt-Havlin, and Sue Schmidt; her nieces and nephews Chadwik, Bradley, Chassidy, Hillary, Michael, Meghan, Carla, Kristina, Amber, Wesley, Gabrielle, Gavin, Malaya, Joanna, Dominic, Paul, and Vincent; her dog Toby; and many friends.

Maureen is preceded in passing by her parents Carl and Mary Schmidt; her brothers John Schmidt and Carl David Schmidt; and her sisters in law Karen Schmidt and Ruthie Schmidt.

Services for Maureen are 12 PM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation is from 4-8 PM, Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow Friday’s service at Calvary Cemetery.  Friends and family are welcome at 11 AM to service times for additional visitation.
