Matthew was the kind of man whose love was steady and unmistakable—quiet in its consistency, yet powerful in the way it shaped the lives around him. As a husband, he loved deeply and faithfully, showing it not just in words but in the everyday moments: in his presence, his loyalty, and the way he made his wife feel seen, valued, and safe.
As a father, he was both a guide and an adventurer. He gave his daughter a childhood rich with memories—countless outings, shared laughter, and the kind of experiences that become stories told for a lifetime. Whether it was something simple or an all-out adventure, he was all in, making sure she knew she was cherished every step of the way.
He had a genuine spirit—you never had to wonder where you stood with him. He was direct, honest, and real, but always with a warmth that made his truth easy to receive. His humor came naturally, often lightening the mood and bringing smiles when they were needed most.
He found joy in working with his hands, especially in the garden, where his care and patience brought things to life. There was something fitting about that—he nurtured not only what he grew from the soil, but also the people he loved, tending to both with quiet devotion.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived—one rooted deeply in family, authenticity, and simple, meaningful joys.
A Celebration of Matthew's life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 9, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, with visitation from Noon until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests potted plants, such as red geraniums to carry on Matthew's love of gardening.
