Mary Glover Obituary

Mary Jane Glover, 67, Mary was born July 7, passed away Memorial Day May 25, 2020.  The daughter of Earl R and Marie W (Goger) Spegal Lawson, whom preceded her in death.

Mary was a homemaker who held many titles, but her most prized was “mom”.  She enjoyed playing cards, scratching her lottery tickets, pull tabs, going to the casino and playing the poker machines, drinking her coffee, Tweety Bird, angels, the Colts, going to concerts with her sister Bev and niece Tiara.  She loved to dance and boy could she cut a rug.

She was unbelievablely strong, and battled cancer twice, once when she was 21/22 and another in 2018, beating it both times, unfortunately, the big C is what finally won when she was diagnosed with leukemia.

When you think of someone who is mild mannered, no temper, easy going, loving, caring, a pure soul with not a mean bone in her body, that was Mary.  She was an angel on this earth, and the cooler head that tried to prevail.  She loved her family, blood or not, once she decided you were one of hers, you were in.  She was selfless like that, always putting others first and the first to offer anyone love and understanding.

Her generosity knew no bounds; she was always giving of herself, even so far as to donate a kidney to her sister Sharon over 30 years ago.  Mary was a caretaker; it was in her blood, coded into her DNA.  She was there with her mom and sister until the end.  She also took care of her brother Al.

And her and her husband Danny opened their door to anyone, no matter how little they had, they always had more love to give. She was a saint and a true miracle here on earth.

Mary and Danny raised so many children, nephews and grandkids who also considered her mom.  They even allowed a man down on his luck to live in a tent in their backyard.

Mary held many jobs throughout her life, waitress, gas station attendant, worked at Brylane, Safeway… all her jobs revolved around serving others.

Mary was also the ultimate cat burglar, as a few of you are aware.

No one would make liver and onions like Mary, and her spaghetti and tomato juice was certainly memorable.

She enjoyed game shows and soap operas, never missing any episodes of The Young and The Restless.

Mary was many things, all of them great and wonderful.  It’s hard to summarize someone so full of life and love down to a few words, but the closest one would be “angel”.  She will be greatly missed, and the world is a little bit darker for having lost her.

Mary is survived by John Mansfield, Shannon Glover, Michael Grube, Robert Dollahan, Joyce Clark, Thomas Spegal, Beverly Stepp, Pearl Glover, lifelong friends Angie Garvy and Anita Bryant, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and all the family she chose to adopt as her children.

Mary is preceded in passing by her husband of 44 years Joseph “Danny” Glover, Dorothy Spegal, Sharon Kinkaid, Alfred Spegal, Earl Spegal, and Scott Dollahan.
