Mary Alice Charnes, 73, of Indianapolis passed away on February 20, 2019.
Mary was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 5, 1945 to Howard Bennett and Bertha Florence (Spears) Key. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She loved being a grandmother and a great-grandmother and spending time with her grandkids. She always took care of everyone else above herself. She was proud of her Native American Heritage, her grandparents were part-Cherokee.
Mary liked to read and watch TV. She was crafty, and liked to sew and knit. She was an animal lover, and one of the last projects she completed was a blanket for her dog. In her younger years Mary was a heck of a bowler.
Mary is survived by her husband, Alvia Lane Charnes; her children Roscoe M. Pike IV, Margaret F. Burnett, and Amanda L. Charnes; her grandchildren Jennifer, Andrea, and Natasha; her great-grandchildren Juan, Antonio, Amaya, Allyson, Joshua, Ricardo, Yessenia, and Alyesia; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in passing by her parents, Howard and Bertha Key.
Funeral Services for Mary will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday, March 1, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow Saturday's services at New Crown Cemetery.
