Marvin Persinger Jr Obituary

BEECH GROVE, IN — On December 9, 2023, the world lost an amazing husband, doting father, master prankster, beloved brother, a culinary wizard, and an undisputed champion of jokes. Marvin Dale Persinger Jr., 61, bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a recipe for a perfect prank phone call.

Marvin was born on September 1, 1962, in Beech Grove, IN, and from the very beginning, it was clear he was destined for greatness in the world of mischief. The only boy among three sisters, Marvin quickly earned the title of "mom's favorite" by mastering the art of batting his eyes and getting away with anything.

A lifelong jokester, Marvin's mission in life was to ensure that everyone around him was happy and in stitches. If you were lucky enough to be visiting, you were subjected to watching Westerns with him, whether you liked it or not. His love for Westerns was rivaled only by his passion for whipping up culinary masterpieces from the most random ingredients. Emeril himself would have been impressed by Marvin's kitchen escapades.

Marvin took delight in watching cooking shows, especially Emeril's, and he enjoyed quizzing his wife, Karen, on obscure food items. If she didn't know what it was, Marvin took great pleasure in teasing her relentlessly. He believed that a good laugh and a well-cooked meal were the keys to a happy life.

As the ultimate instigator, Marvin perfected the art of the prank phone call. No unsuspecting friend or family member was safe from his mischievous dialing fingers. His impeccable imitation of the Lion from the Wizard of Oz added a theatrical touch to his repertoire, leaving everyone in stitches. Marvin never knew a stranger, and delighted in meeting new people and brightening their days.

Marvin's love knew no bounds, and he made sure his family felt it every day, especially when his grandbabies came along. They added a depth of love he couldn’t put into words. Survived by his wife, Karen, his children Tammy (Carlos) Ash, Tiffany (June) McKind, Jason Fugate, Toni Persinger, and Ashley Kinnee; his grandchildren James Allen, Taneiscia "Neicy", Jordan, Joseph, Khamani, Jasmin, Collin, Kavonte, Erica, Aaliyah, Kamiyah, Grayson, Raelynn, and Emma; great-grandchildren Adisyn and Saroura; father Marvin Persinger Sr; sisters Brenda Jones, Bonnie (Jon) Coslett, and Kate (Brian) Tabor; brother Jimmy Persinger; Best friend in the world Calvin Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin is preceded in passing by his mother, Patricia McHugh, his father, Thomas F McHugh, and siblings-in-law John David Ash Sr, Shirley Phillips, and Kenneth Stinson.
