Lola Mitchell, a beloved resident of Indianapolis, passed away on November 2, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born in Indianapolis on August 9, 1941, to her parents Luther and Bernice (Hawkins) Price. Lola was a true native of Fountain Square and had a deep affection for her community, residing on Woodlawn for an impressive 42 years. She held several different jobs throughout her life, but the role she cherished the most was that of a dedicated homemaker.
Lola was known for her outgoing and spunky personality, which endeared her to those fortunate enough to know her. Her closest companion in life was her daughter Bernice, and their bond was unbreakable. Family gatherings and cookouts were some of her favorite moments, where she could enjoy quality time with her loved ones. Lola had a passion for games, especially Bingo and Euchre, and you could often find her at the American Legion in Beech Grove, savoring those competitive moments.
Lola Mitchell was cherished by her family and friends, and her absence will be deeply felt. She is survived by her daughter Bernice (Kenneth) Harper, her son Harold (Mattie) Hester, her grandchildren Patricia Hester, William Burdine, Tiffany Burdine, and Jessica Hester, as well as her great-grandchildren Nevaeh Hester, Liberty Hester, Tori Hester, Savannah Burdine, Sierra Burdine, and Jessica Burdine. Lola is also survived by her brother Harold Price, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Lola Mitchell was preceded in passing by her parents, Luther and Bernice Price, as well as her children Robert Hester and Diane Burdine. She is also reunited with seven siblings in the afterlife. Lola's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and she will be greatly missed
