Linda Darlene Wilcher

Linda Darlene Wilcher, affectionately known as Linda Mitchell, was born on December 27, 1951, in Pittsview, Alabama, to the late Joseph Benton and Josephine Bennett. She was baptized at an early age, and her faith remained an important part of her life throughout the years. Linda spent her early years in Gary, Indiana, where she attended West Side High School.

She later married Allen Wilcher, whom she remained with until his untimely passing. Following his death, Linda relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she began a new chapter in her life. She built lasting friendships and continued to share her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit with everyone she met.

Linda began her career as an employee of the Township Trustee’s Office, where she quickly became known for her dedication and compassionate service. Throughout her many years there, she found great fulfillment in serving her community. Her warm personality, genuine love for people, and exceptional customer service, made her a favorite among customers and coworkers. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated. Her natural ability to connect with others was one of the many qualities that contributed to her success throughout her life.

Linda had a deep love for music and singing. She was a proud member of The Teaques, where she shared her passion for performing and brought joy to those who heard her sing. Her love for music reflected the warmth and happiness she brought to the lives of everyone around her.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Josephine (Lavert) Bennett; her father, Joseph Benton; her husband, Allen Wilcher; her son, Dontell Wilcher; and her siblings, Dorothy Ann Crockett, William Allen, Ronald Bostic, Junior Benton; and her brother-in-law, Vergil Jackson.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jerrod & Dominique Wilcher; sister, Tami Jackson; brother, Michael Bostic; sisters-in-law, Sheila Allen, Jocelyn Bostic; grandchildren, Dontiqua, Ashayla, Kimani, Tiauna, Dre’keyl, Gloria, Destiny, Dynasty, Janelle, Jerrod Jr., Jamal, Josiah, Baylee, Jerimiah, Imyla, and Imani. Linda also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to her life. In addition, she leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, special friends, extended family members, and countless others whose lives she touched. Though too numerous to name individually, each held a special place in her heart, and she loved them all dearly.

Linda’s legacy of love, kindness, faith, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will deeply be missed and forever remembered.

Services officiated by Pastor WV Pickens and Assistant Minister Tyrone Smith, will begin at Noon, Saturday, August 1, at Greater Mount Calvary MBC, 2502 North Sangster Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46218.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
