LaVonda Weber Obituary

LaVonda Kay (Rincker) Weber, 74, of Indianapolis, IN; formerly Effingham and Stewardson, IL went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis.

LaVonda was born January 7, 1952 in Effingham to Vernon Martin and Esther LaVaughn (Gillespey) Rincker of Stewardson, the youngest of nine children. She was 1970 graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg HS. She married Allen Weber of Strasburg, IL August 8, 1971, and they had four children: Synda LaVaughn, Sondra Leigh, Clinton Luke, and Joshua Allen.

LaVonda was a licensed cosmetologist and worked as a beautician until she became a mom in 1974. She then stayed at home to raise her babies before heading back to the workforce. She frequently shared stories of times with her mom and how much she loved and missed her mom. Summers were fondly spent at baseball and softball diamonds cheering for her kids or enjoying the game while Allen umpired. Winters meant basketball and cheerleading. LaVonda rarely missed a game.

LaVonda moved to Indianapolis in 2014 to be near her children and grandchildren and continued to love her family with all she had and be involved and help whenever called upon. She enjoyed being Mom and Nana in all ways from quiet evenings at home, to Sunday family dinners that included playing games (especially euchre) and listing to everyone get LOUD (she’d hush everyone down from time to time, but loved having everyone together no matter how loud it got), to playing chauffer to Mrs. Pam Johnson and a car full of St. John 4th graders gallivanting all over Indiana on field trips, to Wednesday evening dinners and Bible studies, to cooking two dinners so the picky eaters of the house would have something they liked, to playing bingo, to helping everyone heal after surgery and helping their hearts mend after setbacks and losses. Give her a rocking chair and one of her babies, and she was as happy and content as can be. She was an ever present, praying, loving, and giving Mom and Nana who will be desperately missed.

LaVonda was baptized then confirmed in the Lutheran church at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson after being a member of the Christian Church in Stewardson since childhood. Years later, she would attend new members class and reconfirm her faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Indianapolis where she was active in Ladies Aid, multiple Bible and book studies, and other ladies’ groups and outings. In fact, the day before the Lord called her home, she was at St. John enjoying fellowship and asking for prayers of healing for two of her children who had upcoming surgeries scheduled. LaVonda truly enjoyed her time with “the ladies” as she called them and always shared their adventures, the food they’d had, pictures, etc. with her kids.

LaVonda was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bertha Totten, Virginia Aukamp, Shirley Parks, Wayne Rincker, Tom Rincker, and Gene Rincker; Allen Weber and in-laws, Clinton “Jack” and Juanita Weber; nephew, Daniel Rincker; and infant granddaughter, Izabella Rose Weber.

LaVonda leaves behind a family that loves her who are grieving her unexpected passing: children, Synda (Brian) Overbeck of Effingham; Sondra Craig of Indianapolis; Clint Weber of

Effingham; and Josh (Jenette Lugtu) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Shawn Edward (Olivia) Hendershot, Serena Kay Hendershot, Clay Austin (Courtney) Weber, Jordan Micah Weber, Leigha Marie (Chase Anders) Weber, Andrew Theodore (Aleyanna Jarvis) Weber, Hana Olivia (Spencer Bauer) Craig, and Cory Overbeck; great-grandchildren, Kenlea Mae, Huntley Sue, and Lilith Rose Hendershot and Rowan Joseph and Ren Lucas Overbeck; siblings and in-law, Mary Haygood, John (Nina) Rincker, and Valerie Rincker, as well as 14 nieces and nephews.

LaVonda lives on not only in her family – also in others as she was an organ and tissue donor. LaVonda made her wishes known decades ago that she wanted to be a donor. She lived in service of others – always giving. Just like her to continue giving after she’s passed away.
