Kathy L (Jones) Ehrgott

Kathy L. Ehrgott, 63, passed away on July 31, 2024. Kathy was born in Somerset, KY, on April 29, 1961, to Ralph and Helen (Gibson) Jones. Though small in stature, she was a stick of dynamite. Kathy always spoke her mind and never shied away from conflict. She had no filter and didn’t care who you were; she wouldn't censor herself for anyone. Known for her strong opinions and outrageous sense of humor, Kathy always kept people guessing about what she might say next.

One of Kathy’s favorite pastimes was visiting the Casino in Shelbyville to play Quick Hits. She was the life of the party and unforgettable after just one meeting. Her drinks of choice were Coors Light and Fireball. Kathy loved traveling, especially taking Jeep rides with her Jeep gang, the Central Indiana Jeepers. She adored the rubber ducks and enjoyed giving them out to children. Her beloved grey Jeep, Smokey, was always in immaculate condition.

Despite her outgoing nature, Kathy kept her inner circle tight and loved fiercely once you were part of it. Family was the most important thing to her, and she was incredibly selfless, especially with them. She cherished being a grandmother and would spoil her grandkids without hesitation, spending her last dime on them if needed. Kathy was truly one of a kind, and there’s no doubt that God broke the mold when He made her.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children Bruce "Bubba" (Lindsay) Ehrgott Jr. and Megan (Randy) Schmidt; grandchildren Austin, Brycen, and Landon; and her best friend in the world, Melanie Schmidt. Kathy is preceded in passing by her parents and her brother, Russell.

Services for Kathy will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, August 5, 2024, at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center located at 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street), Franklin, IN 46131. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the hour of service.
