Karen K Hitchcox, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, left this world on August 22, 2023, at the age of 81, after bravely battling congestive heart failure. Born on June 14, 1942, in Washington, IN, Karen was the beloved daughter of Quinten and Delores (Cox) Bateman.
With a heart full of love and a spirit of gentleness, Karen peacefully journeyed home. She now rests in peace, reuniting with her sister Ocie, her brother Lloyd, and her parents.
Karen's legacy of love is carried on by her devoted husband Charles Hitchcox. Her life was richly blessed with five children: Anita, Anna, Monty, Rhonda, and Terry. Her family tree continued to flourish with the addition of eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Karen's passion for the Indiana Fever basketball team was well-known. She eagerly attended as many season games as possible, cheering on her favorite team with fervor. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found solace and community within her church.
A skilled homemaker, Karen expressed her creativity through crocheting and crafting. Her homemade gifts were cherished treasures that graced many holiday celebrations. But her truest joy was found in the presence of her grandchildren. They held a special place in her heart, and their love and laughter filled her life with meaning.
Karen's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, yet her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration for those who were fortunate to know her. As we mourn her loss, we are reminded of the enduring love she shared with her family and friends.
Her life was a testament to the power of love, and she will be dearly missed, but always held close in our hearts.
