Joshua Lee Woods

Joshua Lee Woods, 31, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2026. Josh was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jean Dunn and Larry Woods on May 3, 1995.  

As a kid Josh loved video games, working on his bikes, racing, and camping. 

As he got older, music was his passion and the love for his momma was something unbreakable. Josh was admittedly a mommas boy, through and through. He also loved being in the presence of his friends and family. 

He carried heavy burdens with a very gentle heart. 

Although Josh is gone, he will live in our hearts and memories forever.

“A beauty of a memory, is that it’s always there. Like a penny in your pocket, you can take it anywhere. And when your heart is heavy and your eyes are filled with tears, you can focus on a memory, and travel through the years. Your heart can visit happy times, when laughter filled the air. And the presence of our loved one, will lessen our despair. So as we travel on in life, take comfort as you go, in a short lifetime of sweet memories, of one… who loved you so!”

Josh is survived by his mother, Jean Dunn; Son, Brayden Hueston; brothers, Mark Upton, Billy (Ashley) Tipton, Larry (Mikayla) Whitaker, Bobby (Krista) McCarty, Bud Sosbe, and Larry Nash; sisters, Barbara (Cody) Refies-Boyce, Amanda (Eddie) Snapp, Haley (Chris) Bowers, Danielle (Randy) Dishman, Ashley (Jason) Renfrow, Patricia Davidson, Cassie Rowe, and Desiree Anderson; nieces and nephews, Breanna, Isabella, David, Riley, Gavin, Gabriel, Gaige, Reagan, Carter, James, Kaytlynn, Eddie, Cameron, Kaylee, Tyas, Brylen, Shyla, Annabelle, Heaven, Aaron, Emma, Carriauna, Lil Bobby, Kinley, Ryan, Grace, Eugene, Eugnique, and Cash; great niece and nephew, Nova & Zayne; aunt; Brenda (Billy) Combs; grandpa, Damon Woods; a second set of parents that had a hand in raising Josh, Bobby and Janie Whitaker; and also a ton of other beloved family, extended family, and friends!

Josh is preceded in death by his father, Larry Woods; Grandparents, Hilda Dunn, Willie Dunn, Barbara Jo Woods, Wanda Haun, and James Whitaker; brother-in-law, Nate Davidson; and a nephew, Cody Refies-Boyce, Jr. 

Josh’s friends and family are welcome to visit from 1PM-3PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Fountain Square Cremation and Funeral Services, 1420 Prospect Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203. Memorial services celebrating his life will immediately follow at 3PM.  

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to cover funeral costs.
