Joseph "Joe" Lee Gibson, 55, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021.
Joe was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 20, 1965 to James Virgil Briggs Sr and Iris Marine (Angel) Briggs. He was a Jack of All Trades, Master of None, but certainly better than a Master of None. He was always there when you needed him to help out, and always there when you didn't even think you needed him. He also worked as a Truck Driver before retiring. He was a great mechanic and he loved collecting old cars and working on them. Dale Earnhardt was his man and he had a whole wall of memorabilia dedicated to him. Joe's second love was his motorcycle, and he was known as "Honda Joe" because he preferred his Honda over his Harley. He was a workaholic, and even when he was in pain he was working. He had a great worth ethic and was a wonderful provider for his family. He loved dogs and his Ladybug and Harvey Jo were his babies. He had a soft spot for all kids and adored his grandchildren. Whether it was teasing them playing the "Fibbin' Game" with them, keep away, wrestling, or teaching them about tools he spent as much time with them as he could.
Joe was loved by everyone, in spite of how ornery he could be. He looked tough, could be gruff, but he had a good heart. His natural state was happy, and even when he got mad, it didn't last long until he was back to cheering everyone up. He always came through for the people he cared about. Something silly about him was he never cut his own beard if he could help it, because every time he would mess it up and just shave everything off and start over. So if he was ever clean shaved, you know what went down.
Joe is survived by the love of his life, (Angelic) Ranee, whom he married in 2007 as soon as he could; his children Brandy, James, Amanda, Tamicka, Jeffry, Samantha, and Stephenie; his 19 grandchildren including Angelic, Hailey, Levi, and Joslynn whom he was especially close to, and he had another on the way; 1 great-grandson; his father James Briggs Sr; his siblings Billy Cherokee, Robert Yogi, Billy Jean, Jerry, and Micheal; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many friends.
Joe is preceded in passing by his mother Iris Briggs and his sister Edna.
Funeral Services for Joe will be 5 PM, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 2 PM until the hour of service.
