Jesse James Mathews

Jesse James Mathews, 47, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 28, 2022.

Jesse was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 9, 1974 to David Mathews and Deborah Johnson.  Jesse was a loving son with a big heart. He was a natural caregiver and the type of person who would help out anyone he was able to.  He was the first grandchild, and took his job as protector of his younger brother seriously.  He took a bullet for him. Jesse was proud of his aunts and uncles and spent time with them when he could. He was a talented cook and could make a meal out of nothing, he enjoyed cooking for his loved ones. He loved being outside and was handy for construction and landscaping jobs.  He recently joined Prophecy and Bible studies, recommitting himself to God. He could sing like a bird and would often listen to music.  Although he was taken too soon, he is now a shining star sharing his light from heaven. 

Jesse is survived by his mother Deborah Johnson; his father David Mathews; his brother Charles "Charlie" David Paul Mathews III; his grandma Sheila Mathews; his niece Autumn; his uncle Jim Stuckey; his girlfriend Danielle; his cat Leo Lion; and a great-niece and a great-nephew.

Jesse is preceded in passing by his Grandma and Grandpa Stuckey; his grandpa Paul Mathes; his Grandma and Grandpa Johnson.

Services for Jesse will be 5 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 2 PM until the hour of service.
