James “Jim” Estill Root, 65, of Indianapolis, formerly of Manchester, KY, passed away on February 5, 2025.
Born in Manchester, KY, on October 4, 1959, to John and Viola (Wolfe) Root, Jim spent years working as a machine operator before retiring. He had a way of making people laugh and was always the life of the party. If there was a good time to be had, Jim was right in the middle of it, cracking jokes and keeping everyone entertained.
He loved kicking back with a cold one and watching football—especially if the Colts were playing.
Jim is survived by his sons, John (Courtney) Root and James (Ashley); his grandchildren, Ally, Raelyn, Jazlyn, Layla, Saryiah, Ella and Cole; his siblings, Lillie (Roy) Tedders, Edward Root, and Debbie (Jimmy) Tedders; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, John and Viola Root, and his brothers, Wendell Root, Ernest Root, and John Root Jr.
