James Claude McGuire, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 4, 2025.
James was born in Indianapolis, IN, on June 10, 1963, to Wilbur and Anna (Whitecoff) McGuire. He worked as a handyman for many years—the kind of man who could fix just about anything. And on the rare occasion he couldn’t, he always knew someone who could.
James was lovingly called as the “Dachshund Daddy.” His wiener dogs were his babies, and he doted on them with so much affection that his kids often joked Fluffy was the real favorite kid.
A fan of his hometown teams, James loved watching the Pacers and catching Colts games whenever he could. He was proud to be a dad and even prouder to be a grandpa. His grandkids were his world, and he made sure each of them knew how deeply he loved them.
James is survived by his children Brandy, James, Dustin (Kristina), Brittany, Austin, and Fluffy; his grandchildren Jalen, Justin, Jordan, Jayden, Madison, MaKenzy, James, Wesley, DJ, and Nate; great-grandson Emerson; siblings Lulu, Katie, and Bill; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Wilbur and Anna McGuire; his wife, Alicia (Young) McGuire; and his sister, Nancy.
