Irene Curtis (Bell) Johnson, age 86, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Monticello, KY, passed away on November 9, 2023. She was born in Monticello, Wayne County, KY, on September 5, 1937, to her parents, Cosby O and Lula T (Gregory) Bell.
A loving mother of 10, Irene dedicated her life to her family, embracing the role of homemaker with unwavering commitment. She was not only the heart of her home but also an active member of the Wheeler Mission Mother's group, where she found joy in the camaraderie of fellow mothers.
Irene's love for music was evident in her passion for playing the guitar and singing. Bluegrass melodies held a special place in her heart, and she would often share her love for this genre with those around her. Her faith in God was a guiding light in her life, and she found solace and joy in attending church services.
Irene is survived by her children, including Carl B. (Cliffonda) Johnson, Patricia King, and Diane Biggs, along with 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue through the generations.
She is preceded in passing by her parents and 7 siblings.
Services to celebrate Irene's life will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Visitation will take place from 11 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Crown Hill.
