Herbert Lee Demaree, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 14, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Louis Floerke and Viola Mae (Zook) Floerke.
Herbert spent 35 dedicated years working for the N.K. Hurst Bean Company, beginning in 1977 and retiring in 2012. He was known for his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and the genuine kindness he shared with everyone he met.
A man of simple joys, Herbert loved fishing, bowling, playing cards—especially solitaire—and riding his scooter. He embraced life with a gentle spirit and had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed and appreciated. Herbert truly loved people.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Nikolaos Adkins, Sr.
Herbert is survived by his brothers John M. Demaree (Lois), Lou R. Demaree (Pamela), and Robert “Bob” L. Demaree; his sister Penney J. Adkins; his nephew Gregory L. Adkins; his great-nephew Nikolaos L. Adkins Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4:00–5:00 PM at Fountain Square Cremation and Funeral Services to honor and remember such a wonderful man.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the funeral home to assist the family with service expenses.
