Gregory Wood Tucher, 61, of Indianapolis, Indiana died on October 19, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1964, the son of Francis “Frank” Eugene Tucher (d. October 28, 2012) and Betty Clara Wood Tucher (d. July 29, 2003).
He was a very hard worker, a manual laborer whose work involved everything from carrying hod to installing signage to working many years as a baker in his family’s now-closed bakery, the Busy Bee Donut Shop. Much like his father, he was a man who was very pure of soul, always helpful to others, caring for a multitude of stray cats, and feeding birds rice he’d cook for them.
He endured a lot of suffering in his life, but never ever lapsed into surliness, envy, nihilism, or anger; he was satisfied with the little he had and shared freely what little he had. He had the gifts of faith, hope, and charity, and took delight in "the little things," especially the beauty of God’s creation. He loved God, animals, raising chickens, growing things in his garden, his country, his family, and children -- especially his great-nephew, Arlo Roberts, whom he helped care for as the boy was growing up, even teaching him how to read.
He will be so terribly missed by those who survive him: his elder brother, John Tucher; his elder sister Tracy Tucciarone; his younger sister, Amy Nelson; and extended family and friends Yeong Tucher, Ron Lopez, Rick Nelson, Larry Carter, Janet McClain, and many nieces and nephews.
He will be interred at Dale Cemetery in Connersville, Indiana, alongside his parents some time after a private service at his younger sister’s house. Instead of flowers, Greg would have loved that donations be made to the animal welfare organization FIDO Indy, or to Holy Rosary Parish, 520 Stevens Street in Indianapolis. Réquiem ætérnam dona ei Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat ei. Requiéscat in pace. Amen.
