"Green" Richard Burns, 74, of Indianapolis, formerly of Ohio, passed away on October 18, 2021.
Green was born in Dayton, OH on March 18, 1947. The son of Green Burns, he was raised by his grandmother Sophia, whom everyone called "Mommy". He worked at Nabisco for many years, and when asked his job description he would just reply "Whatever I want to do". Green was funny and grumpy, and always was himself regardless of the circumstance. He didn't have it in him to be anything but honest and straight-forward, to the chagrin of his loved ones. But you always knew where you stood with Green. He the the hardest working many most knew.
Green liked to relax with a beer and watch movies, especially Westerns. He enjoyed racing, Andy Griffith, and Law shows. Green was very smart, self taught about a lot of things that interested him. His family was very important to him. He loved being a grandpa, but he wasn't grandpa. His grandkids called him "Geen" and he would be the first to tell people he wasn't grandpa, only "Geen". And he always told them he "L'ed them", never the full word, but his actions spoke volumes more than any words could say.
Green is survived by his daughter and best friend Renee (Teddy); his grandkids Mariah, Maranda, Kyle, Sandra, and Joseph; his great-grandchildren Sophia, Malia, Zane "Big Charlie" Silas, Kyle, Ariella, Kayanna, and Kyran; his bonus kids Tink, Clinton, Johnathan, Glo, and Carman; his siblings Betty Lou, Angela, Barbara, and Rick; and several nieces and nephews.
Green is preceded in passing by the love of his life, Sophia Burns; his father Green Burns; and his grandson Timmy Green.
Services for Green will be 2 PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the hour of service. Burial will follow Funeral Services at Memorial Park Cemetery.
