Obituary

Glenda Nieves, age 84, passed away on September 15, 2023, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of unwavering love and devotion. Glenda was born on September 19, 1938, to Bernie Sutton and Loretta (Bower) Plank, and her life was a testament to the values of hard work, faith, and family.

Glenda dedicated many years of her life to her work at the convention center. Her unparalleled work ethic shone brightly as she would eagerly embrace each workday, even Sundays, but only if her best friend Cynthia was working alongside her. Her commitment and dedication earned her the esteemed title of Employee of the Month, a recognition that filled her with pride.

Beyond her dedication to her career, Glenda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Bingo was her favorite game, and she had a special affinity for playing the lottery. Her sharp wit and surprising agility made her a formidable opponent in any game she played.

A woman of immense generosity and compassion, Glenda was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her Faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she attended Living Water Church for many years. She found solace and strength in her unwavering belief and trust in the Lord.

Glenda's reunion with her daughter Vicky in her heavenly home is a source of comfort and joy. Her earthly ailments no longer torment her, and she rests in eternal peace.

She was known for her direct and honest nature. She believed in telling the truth, even if it was uncomfortable, because it came from a place of caring. Glenda's family was paramount in her heart, and she took immense pride in her daughters, often speaking of them with love and admiration. Her adoration extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who reciprocated her love wholeheartedly.

Glenda is survived by her truest love, confidant, and partner in life, her husband Noe. Their love story was a testament to the power of enduring love. Noe's unwavering devotion to Glenda was the cornerstone of their relationship. He not only cherished her but also brought immense love, faith in the Lord, and unwavering support to every aspect of her life. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and mutual care that served as an example to all.

She also leaves behind her daughter Debbie (Michael) Tutas, grandchildren Steven Jr, Heather, Jennifer, Crystal, Dawn, Destiny, Diana, Danielle, December, Darla, and Michael Jr. Her best friend of nearly three decades, Cynthia, shared a bond that was a testament to the enduring power of friendship. Glenda is also survived by her neices, Dana and Lisa (Danny), who lovingly cared for her during challenging times, her sister Latisha, and 21 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in passing by her parents Bernie Sutton and Loretta Plank, her daughter Vicky Reed, grandchildren Christopher, Desire, and Marty, her ex-husband James Justice, and her sister Bernice.

Glenda Nieves will be remembered not only for her strong work ethic and candid nature but also for the profound love and kindness she showered upon her family and friends. Her legacy of faith, generosity, and honesty will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones, in the loving embrace of her heavenly home.
