Gerald Chappell Obituary

Gerald Chappell, 88, passed away peacefully July 21, 2026.

He was born July 17, 1938, in Indianapolis, to the late Dallas & Clarabell Chappell. He was a veteran of the US Army. Gerald retired the "first time" from International Harvester, after 35 years as a pattern maker. He then went on to work another 15 years at ADESA. He not only passed down his work ethic to his daughters, but also his love of travel. Family vacations were a cherished event, spending time finding waterfalls or finding the hottest donuts in Tennessee. They always had a destination but some of the fondest memories were just getting there. He loved being outdoors and fishing. Being with his family was his true love. Couldn't wait to see the grandchildren and give them their love taps.

Gerald is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Craig, Ruth (Kenneth) Hatton, and Jennifer Chappell; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, Icy Chappell; son, Russell Chappell; seven sisters and six brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM, July 28, at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services, with visitation from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
