Georgia Perkins Obituary

“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be Saved” – Acts 16:3

Family archives record an exciting historic event which occurred in the family of the late George and Corareen Woodson of Osceola, AR on November 21, 1953.

In the midst of the world’s headline “The Armistice ends the Korean War” headlines in the family was “A Beautiful Baby Girl Born”

Most importantly, the child named Georgia Mae was the fourth in the Woodson’s Family History. Her presence brought so much delight, joy, and happiness into the family. “Georgia Mae” as she so fondly called was reared in the household with 9 other siblings.

Georgia Mae and the Woodson family migrated to Indianapolis, IN in 1968. Georgia accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Greater Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rodequze Footman. Georgia Mae had 5 children, Tawanda, Joe, Kenneth, Kenya, and Little Kenny, who preceded her in death along with her parents, brother Harry Woodson, and Grandson Baby Curtis Brown.

Georgia Mae attended elementary school in Osceola, AR, and she attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN.

She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was also an adoptive/foster mother to several kids.

Georgia Mae was known for being a great cook, daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and a Best Friend, and a friend who will be missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.

Georgia Mae had an infectious smile, she loved life, and lived it to the fullest her way. Her personality was a drawing card for many friendships.  She loved people! She was someone who met no strangers. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards, she loved going to the casino, and listening to the Old School Music and Blues.  One of her favorite songs was “Green Onions”. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister Joyce “Ninnie” Woodson and she looked forward to family gatherings at her niece Linda K’s house.

Georgia Mae had the tenacity in the family, she had the will to keep the family together at any cost.  She was very family-orientated and her family was the most important thing to her.

Georgia Mae united in holy matrimony to Robert L Perkins Sr on February 19, 1996. They had a love so strong it was able to conquer any storm that came their way, even to the end.

Georgia Mae made this transition on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:45 AM at Community East Hospital at 64 years, 8 months, and 19 days old.

Georgia Mae leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband Robert L Perkins Sr; her children Tawanda Brown, Joe Woodson, “Kent” Kenneth Perkins, “TeTe” Kenya Perkins; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-daughters Rochelle, Nashika and LaShawna; and 1 step-son Robert Perkins Jr; four sisters Patricia Watson, Coralee Beech, Carrie Woodson, and Joyce Woodson; four brothers George (Gloria) Woodson, Roylee Woodson, Leron (Sherry) Woodson, Tyrice (Courtney) Woodson; The World’s Greatest Best Friend Yvonne Hasell; her special friends Denise Reed and Marcia Drake, who went above and beyond in their care for her; and other special friend Rose.
