Emma Elizabeth Spurr, 91, of Indianapolis, formerly of Franlinton, KY, passed away on August 15, 2021.

Emma was born in Franlinton, KY on May 10, 1930, to Noah and Mary (Jennings) Dixon. She cleaned offices a bit, but her true career was as a homemaker for her family.  At 16 she married the love of her life, Elmer Lee "Doe" on January 10, 1947.  They lived in Kentucky until 1954 then moved to Indianapolis, She loved spending time with her family, adored reunions, and Christmas was always her favorite holiday because the whole family got together.  She loved cooking and baking, and the get togethers were the perfect time to make all her pies, cakes, and cookies. Emma loved her neighbors and her community, something that got her recognized by the City of Indianapolis for her own Day.  She was kindhearted and would do anything for anyone.  Emma had a pure soul and a heart of gold.

Outside of her family, Emma loved bowling.  She enjoyed gardening and her rose bushes were her pride and joy.  She loved country music and blue grass, Ralph Stanley being her absolute favorite.  One of her fondest memories was visiting the Grand Ole Opry with her daughter Mary Ann.  Emma had a strong faith and was a proud member of Woodruff Church in Indianapolis.

Emma is survived by her daughter Mary Ann DeBruhl; her grandchildren Kevin Spurr, Michael Lester, Patrick Spurr, DJ DeBruhl, Darrell James, Dustin DeBruhl, Tracy Matthews, Amy Spurr, Sara Spurr, Bruce Paro, Carrie Byrd, Richard Byrd, and Mabel Spurr; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Donna Spurr; her beloved dog Jarvis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Emma is preceded in passing by her husband, Doe Spurr; her children Noah Thomas Spurr, Elmer Lee Spurr Jr, and James David Spurr; her grandson Joey Spurr; her parents Noah and Mary Dixon; her siblings Hallie Summitt, Lester Dixon, Mary Bruner, Buddy Dixon, Rachel Gill, Ruth Chisholm, Joe Dixon, and Ed Dixon; and her daughter-in-law Carol Spurr.
