July 3, 1952 – January 8, 2025
Elvon Patricia McClain passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family after complications from the flu and pneumonia.
Born on July 3, 1952, to the late Granville Jake Radford and Evelyn Rose (Hammock) Rogers, Elvon grew up in a loving family where she learned the values of hard work and compassion that would shape her life. She dedicated her career to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where her gentle touch and sassy personality brought both care and laughter to those she served.
Elvon had a flair for life, often seen dressing up and brightening every room she entered with her confident and lively spirit. She was deeply sentimental, cherishing her family above all else. Her home was a gallery of love, adorned with large pictures of her children and grandchildren that served as daily reminders of her pride and devotion. She found joy in laughter and had an unmatched fierceness when it came to protecting her loved ones.
Elvon was preceded in death by her husband, Gary McClain; her parents, Granville Jake Radford and Evelyn Rose (Hammock) Rogers; her sisters, Karen (Radford) Caballero, Erma (Radford) Kennedy, and Evon (Radford) Martin; and her brother, Troy Radford.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory:
Her brothers: Daniel Radford, Dallas Radford, and Kevin Radford.
Her sister: Dandella Denice Radford.
Her daughters: Vontella Denise Bass-Owen, Ronda Denice Taylor, and Keyona Lady Taylor.
Her grandchildren: Tamieka Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Khy’driana Boswell, and Kéjiana Taylor.
Her great-grandchildren whom she cherished: Tamara Roberts, Malaya Roberts, Jayda Roberts, Kingston Roberts, and Lyrica Roberts.
A host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
Elvon’s legacy of love, strength, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As per her wishes, a small and private celebration of her life will be held on January 14, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with burial expenses. Contributions can be sent to Tamieka Roberts via CashApp $tamiekaroberts. The family deeply appreciates your kindness and support during this difficult time.
