Doris Mae McQuain, 66, of Indianapolis, formerly of Rochester, NY, passed away on March 29, 2025.
Born on November 1, 1958, in Rochester, NY, to Andrew Jerome and Sandra Lee (Greatsinger) Nichols, Doris lived a full and hardworking life. She started out as a bartender, later spent many years working for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and eventually rounded out her career as a cashier at Walmart.
Doris had a passion for baking and was known for her peanut butter fudge, éclair cake, strawberry jam, and zucchini bread. She was an avid reader, especially of James Patterson books, and loved spending time at the casino or playing slots on her phone. A devoted Colts and racing fan, she rarely missed a game or a race. But above all, family was everything to Doris. She dedicated herself to her loved ones, always putting them first.
She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Alte and Ally (Ethan) Weber; her sister, Jenny Schoolcraft; her brother, Kenneth Nichols; her grandchildren, Kellie, Andrew, Annabelle, Abbagail, Madalyn, and Madison Mae; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in passing by her parents, Andrew and Sandra Nichols; her longtime partner, Eddie Sexon; and her son-in-law, Michael Alte.
