Dorci Gina Steinbrook, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 16, 2024.
Born in Indianapolis on December 5, 1962, to Wilbur L. and Betty West, Dorci was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She was the foundation on which her loved ones relied, always supportive and pouring her love into every moment. From the early days of raising her son Kyle, who was born a premie, she appreciated the opportunity to love and nurture him. Their bond remained unbreakable throughout her life.
Dorci was known for her accepting nature and warm heart, making friends wherever she went. She treated her son’s friends as her own, welcoming them into her life as her bonus children. Whether it was attending festivals, enjoying meals out, or embarking on simple adventures, Dorci valued every moment spent with her family and friends.
Music was a cornerstone of Dorci’s life, and her impeccable taste spanned generations. She was a fan of classic rock legends like REO Speedwagon, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Boston, and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Among contemporary artists, she particularly loved Black Label Society. Dorci also had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs and cats. She had a knack for naming her pets and never turned away a stray, always offering them a home and her unwavering compassion.
Dorci was a beautiful soul, inside and out, who touched the lives of many. Her kindness, adventurous spirit, and selflessness will be deeply missed.
Dorci is survived by her son, Kyle West; her beloved cats Juju, Fancypants, Henry, Tubby Wubby, Percy, Baby Davy, Lil Freddie, and Hop-a-long; and countless friends and bonus children.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Wilbur and Betty West; her husband of 20 years, Kenneth “Ken” Steinbrook; her brother, Neil West; and her cherished dogs, Lulu and B.B.
